A Low Maintenance Solution
DekSmart vinyl decking is designed to be low maintenance, helping you spend more time enjoying your outdoor space and less time maintaining it. To keep your deck looking its best and maximize its lifespan, we recommend a thorough cleaning three to four times per year.
General Cleanup
General Cleanup
Sweep the deck surface to remove loose dirt and debris, then wet the surface with a standard garden hose and allow the water to sit for a few minutes. Using warm water mixed with a mild dish soap, scrub the surface with a bristle push broom before rinsing thoroughly. For dirt trapped within the texture of the membrane, re-wet the area with warm water, gently scrub with a stiff bristle brush, and rinse again. Repeat as needed until the surface is clean.
Pressure Washing
Pressure Washing
Pressure washers can be used to clean DekSmart vinyl decking; however, improper use may damage the membrane. Never use a pressure washer rated above 2,000 PSI (14 MPa), and always keep the spray nozzle at least 24 in. (60 cm) from the deck surface.
Snow & Ice
Snow & Ice
Use a plastic snow shovel to remove accumulated snow. While de-icing salt products may be used, they have not been tested for compatibility with DekSmart vinyl decking and are applied at the owner's discretion. Because many industrial rock salts contain harsh chemicals that may damage the membrane, organic, kid- and pet-friendly de-icing products are recommended whenever possible. At the end of the winter season, thoroughly clean the deck to remove any remaining de-icer residue.
